Leak Detection

Avoiding pool leaks is a major concern for all pool owners. Every pool will experience some water loss in normal circumstances due to evaporation, splashing or during the filtration process. This is estimated to be between 2 to 2.5cm per week.

If you start noticing that your water level is dropping at a faster rate than this. This means that there is a leak in your swimming pool.

Pool leaks should be fixed as soon as possible as this could cause an increase in water usage, if you are having to constantly fill this back, as well as an increase in chemical usage due to fresh water coming into the pool and added energy costs as this water will have to be heated.

At JB Elite we have many different ways to test your pool and to detect where your water will be leaking from.

This could be from a fissure in the pipework, cracks in the concrete or even a tear in the liner.

The first thing to do would be to check the pipework connections to the filter and pump to ensure there is no visible leak there.

If there is a suspected leak in the liner we would perform a dye test of the pool liner to find any leaks. This involves using dye along the liner to see if the coloured dye gets sucked in by the liner. Meaning there is a hole at the suction point.

Finally by doing a pressure test of the pipework we would be able to detect any fissures in the pipework as these would be points of low pressure.
